SPASTICITY

CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THEY HAVE HAD SPASTICITY AND IF THEY EVER RECOVERED FROM IT?

I RECEIVED A TRAMATIC BRAIN INJURY JANUARY 2011. MY ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT I HAVE SPASTICITY IN MY LEFT LEG, ARM AND ONE VOCAL CORD.   I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING AND SEARCHING TO SEE IF ANYONE HAS EVER RECOVERED FROM IT.  I CAN'T FIND ANY INFO.

MY SPASTICITY HAS LESSENED A LITTLE BIT.  MY ARM AND HAND USED TO BE CURLED UP ON MY CHEST AND WITH STREATCHING I CAN ALMOST GET IT STRAIGHT AND NOW IT WILL REST DOWN IN NORMAL POSITION.  MY 3RD FINGER AND THUMB BEND BACKWARD A LITTLE BIT.  MY FOOT SEEMS TO BE CURLING LESS BUT I CAN'Y WALK WITHOUT MY BRACE.

I HAVE BEEN THROUGH ALL THE MEDS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO HELP.  I AM DOING BETTER WITHOUT THEM.  I DO GET BOTOX SHOTS BUT THEY DIDN'T EVEN SEEM TO HELP ME WALK ANY BETTER.

I AM DESPERATE TO HEAR ANY STORIES OF RECOVERY.

Hi!
Spastic hemiplegia as you have is due to involvement of middle cerebral artery during a TBI. I am sorry to say but there is no cure for this. While, 100% recovery may not be possible, physical therapy helps improve function in affected limbs. Braces may be needed for a long time. You must consult a good physiotherapist and build up these exercises in your routine life. Occupational therapy and counseling will help you become more independent. Take care!
