Skull a year after brain surgery

Skull a year after brain surgery

I had a craniotomy in May 2009. Most of the skull in my forehead was removed during surgery and then put back during the 11 hour surgery.
The bone has never set in properly or permanently. Sometimes I wonder if it was placed in the wrong way (upside down) Lately - it seems to have slipped out a bit to one side and is not sliding back in as easily as it used to. This causes some pressure and I have to keep raising my eyebrows to push it back in.
It's a nuisance. I have not gone back to my neurosurgeon yet but thought I would address this here to see if anyone has had a similar location craniotomy and post op experience. I just want to know if this is normal and should I bother going back to the neurosurgeon. I don't want to wait 3 hours in the waiting room to be told in 2 minutes that this is normal.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If the pieces of remodeled skull are mobile, then they need to put back together properly. Otherwise they can in long run cause problems with the brain, CSF flow and pressure inside the skull. Please go back to the neurosurgeon regarding this. Hope this helps. Take care!

Thanks for this... now I don't feel like it's all just inside my head (seriously - no pun intended). I'll make an appointment.
