In 2001 I had a trach following an accident.  I was left with THE MOST HORRIBLE sounding voice.  I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem, and if so, how is it dealt with????  I hate the way that my voice sounds now although other people tell me it's fine.  It's not.  I've heard myself on my answering machine and I hated the way that I sounded so much that I asked my fiance to leave a message for me.  This is driving me nuts!!!!!!

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Yes, following tracheostomy (I presume you mean this by trach), it is possible for the voice to crack or become harsh. You can consult a speech therapist and learn to modulate your voice by some exercises, breathing techniques etc that helps with the muscles of voice box. Take care!
