Traumatic Brain Injury and the flu shot

by sunshine2006, Oct 16, 2008 09:09PM
A little over 2 1/2 years ago, I developed a brain abscess from a sinus infection. I had 3 craniotomies and Bi-Lateral VP shunt placements, along with 2 shunt revisions. The last shunt revision was May 2007. I have not had any problems since the last revision. I had an annual follow-up up with neurosurgery and everything looked great. My question is, should I get a flu shot? Initionally, internal medicine didn't want me to have one, but that was over a year and a 1/2 ago. There is no research of someone having had a brain abscess and getting a flu shot. What are your thoughts on this, any advice is much appreciated. Thank You.
