Vision problems after brain surgery

My husband underwent brain surgery on 6th Sept for a grade 1 melengioma on the right frontal lobe.  Before the op he was experiencing double vision and headaches.  However since surgery he appears to have lost the sight in his left side and has limited vision in the right eye.  He has however had a very slight vision improvement in the right eye but the doctors are not confident that were will be much more recovery of sight.  The swelling on the optic nerve has now gone but is it too soon to write him off as legally blind after only 8 weeks post op?

Hello

Thank you so very much for your response it is very much appreciated.

I am pleased to say that his vision is improving in his right eye very slightly  over the last couple of weeks his left eye has had no improvement.   We saw an eye specialist on Tuesday and he has suggested that we return to the neurologist as he feels that the vision problem is not with the eyes there is apparently very little damage to the eyes,  not enough to substantiate the vision loss.

So its back to the UK we go!

In the meantime my husband has a very positive attitude and is blessed to have a good  group of friends and family whom have all been very supportive and a great source of encouragement to him.

Thanks again

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
It is really very difficult to say whether your husband will regain sight or not. I am sorry about this but post brain surgery it is difficult to give a time span for recovery and even say with reasonable surety whether sight will be regained or not. You can consult the neurologist and eye specialist regarding this. Take care!
