closed head trauma concussion syndrome

had an mri of the brain for head trauma/concussion/headaches and poor concentration. tempal area was hit and loss of conscience occured.
mri of brain show results as fluid noted within several posterior mastoid aircells. i have never had any ear issues or sinus problems. could this be introduced from the head trauma due to skull fx

Hi!
Well, yes, normally mastoid air cells are filled with fluid when you have an infection. Also in infection, the lining of the air cells thickens. Hence in absence of frank symptoms of infection, these findings should be looked into. With a history of head injury and nascence of infection, temporal bone fracture should be suspected. CT scan views focusing on this area should be done.  Please discuss with your treating doctor and your radiologist. Take care!
