exertional headaches

I get headaches from even minor exercise - today from taking my dog on a short walk.  The headaches can come on quickly, after only a little activity or can come on later.  I've had tension headaches for a few years, so I didn't think much of it at first, but now it's starting to impinge on my sex life a bit.  I feel like one should feel good after sex, not have a pounding headache that lasts for hours.  Any tips on treatment?  I've been using tylenol, but if I over-use it the headaches just get worse.  (Can't use NSAIDs - I have GERD).  Is there anything I can do before exercising to prevent these?

Also wondering if it might be a medication thing.  I'm taking birth control, SSRI, omeprazole, and fludrocortizone (orthostatic hypotension - at 24 - still haven't figured that one out yet either).  I know ssri's can cause headaches, but i've been on it a few years and don't really want to stop it.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Exercise can be a trigger of migraine which will cause headache and nausea. Exercise can also trigger electrolyte imbalance, dehydration, spinal problems etc all of which can cause headache and nausea. Your blood pressure too can shoot up with exercise and cause these symptoms.
Also the medications you are taking could have a combined effect.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
