Fifteen years ago or so, I started to eat an ice cream cone and when I opened my jaw, I felt a pop at the base of my skullCranial ct scan Malignant otitis externa Skull Skull anatomy Skull of a newborn Skull of an adult Skull x-ray (toward the left). The pain was immense (I immediately felt that tunnel vision like when you're about to pass out) and then I had a severe soreness and stiffness near and around the area for many weeks afterward. (I know I should have gone to the doctor, but I was a poor college student when this happened.)
