feeling old skull injury during pregnancy

Fifteen years ago or so, I started to eat an ice cream cone and when I opened my jaw, I felt a pop at the base of my skull (toward the left). The pain was immense (I immediately felt that tunnel vision like when you're about to pass out) and then I had a severe soreness and stiffness near and around the area for many weeks afterward. (I know I should have gone to the doctor, but I was a poor college student when this happened.)

I've felt occasional discomfort in this area over the years, but I especially feel a weird discomfort/pain at the base of my skull during pregnancy. I'm on my third pregnancy and when I get the typical "pregnancy acid reflux", I can feel it in this area near the base of my skull. I also feel this "acid reflux" type response in the area when I eat spicy food (again, mostly, during pregnancy). Any ideas as to what might be going on? Much appreciated!
