head injury

My daughter just called me. She was hit on the head by her TV. Her TV is on her dresser. As she was going through a drawer about two feet lower. She was hit by the front monitor screen on the top left side of her head. She has no bump on her head but a dull ache headache. She has no other symptoms. She is worried about a brain injury like Natasha Richardson. It happened about 5 hours ago. Should she go to the emergency room? She is 23 years old.She is taking ibuprofen for the headache

By now your daughter’s symptoms would have healed. If there is a bump following such an injury, usually it is a soft tissue injury. The symptoms that may be indicative of brain injury and which should be watched out for are vomiting, reeling of head, loss of balance while walking, vision problems, sleeping too much etc.
It is important to consult a doctor after any head injury to be on the safe side. A slow bleeding subdural hematoma can present even 2-3 weeks after initial injury.
