Hi!
If you have a VP shunt and need to travel by air, then you need to carry a letter that you have a shunt. Also, it depends on the make of the shunt. Some need to be re-programmed if they pass through the magnetic filed. So ask your doctor. And, if the VP shunt settings can change, then you can carry a letter, and avoid scanners.
Also, usually just passing through the scanners does not affect the shunt, unless you stand under it. Take care!
