snowboarding head injury

I fell and hit the back of my head while I was snowboarding about six weeks ago, twice within one hour.  The first time I was okay, but took a minute to get up.  The second time I'm not sure what happened but I couldn't see clearly right away and it felt like my right eye had been pulled into my head.  I got up after a few minutes, but felt really off.  The rest of the day my head hurt so bad that nothing would touch it and I had such severe whiplash that I could barely swallow.  I never went to the doctors because everything that I read said that there wasn't much to be done for concussions.  For several weeks I would get extremely painful headaches and ringing in my ears, but nothing else and I finally started feeling better a couple of weeks ago.  Yesterday, I was playing outside with my son and he knocked my mouth with the back of his head and the back of my head started hurting instantly.  Since then my whole head has been hurting and my ears are ringing and they feel plugged.  I have never had any type of injury before and would just assume stay away from going to the doctors because I don't have insurance, nor do I have a physician.  Is this normal after hitting your head or should I be a bit more concerned?

Hi,

How are you? If the headache persisted and does not respond to over-the-counter pain relievers, have this evaluated further for proper management and for stronger prescription medications. The headache usually occurs for some time after a concussion along with other symptoms ( confusion, nausea or vomiting, blurred vision, loss of short-term memory or perseverating). Complete neurological and physical examination and some tests will help determine the underlying cause. Even with no insurance, there are hospitals that help. Just inquire at your local government office for this.

Take care and keep us posted.
