Healthy Male 21 years old-which company health care to choose

I am a healthy 21 year old male that RARElY goes to the doctor for illnesses. Although I do have a couple medications that I may have to go to the doctor for "checkups" every few months or so. I am just now getting off my familys health insurance and am somewhat clueless as to which plan I should pick. The one i have been susgested is a PPO HSA account. I am not familar with health insurance so I will need this boards help. I was told this HSA was the best option for single young healthy people that dont go to the doctor much, but since I do have a couple precriptions that i need on a monthly basis, which coverage should I choose. The other option is a PPO HRA. What other info do you need to make a decision about which plan to pick? Thanks in advance... I really need the help.

Dear 123will,

Health Insurance products are area specific, so a lot depends on where you live & what is available in your area. The other determining factor is the medications you take & why.

Your best bet is to talk to a licensed agent, who offers multiple plans/carriers (you can call eHealthInsurance 24/7 & ask to speak with a licensed rep who can give you expert, non-biased advice). The other issue you want to inform your agent about is the medications you take so they can advise you what carriers will likely be a better option as any treatment including medications is taken into consideration during underwriting.

Meanwhile keep in mind that with the new law (Reform), as of September 23rd dependent children are allowed to stay on their parents’ policy until they are 26 years old. Let me know if you have further questions.

Sincerely,

Amir Mostafaie
