Medicaid after Marriage

by chicgeek, Nov 12, 2008 09:43AM
I'm a 41 year old single pregnant woman.  I'm currently on Medicaid in Texas, but only qualify because I'm pregnant.  The baby's father and I want to get married, but we are afraid that if we do, I will no longer qualify for benefits.  He doesn't make much, and although his job does offer insurance, it's cost-prohibitive to insure a family.  Will gettin married cancel my benefits?

Dear chickgeek,

If the new spouse's income counted as family income & if your total family income exceeds the qualifying income level, it may impact your benefits.

To get more accurate & detailed information, you can contact Medicaid at 1-800-448-3927 directly.

Sincerely,
