More information

Hi all, I'm still trying to get more information on HSA and figure out if it'd be a good idea for me to get one.  I read a good article - http://www.nywellnessguide.com/content/are-health-savings-accounts-good-investment but any other info would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks! :)

Dear CharlieBrown55,

I've been able to lead others in your situation into a guided discovery by asking the following question;

Are you comfortable with having a high deductible plan that will require you to pay for all your claims out of pocket, until your deductible is met? In other words are you okay with covering the first few thousands of dollars of your bills in return to paying lesser in monthly premiums? Do you go to the doctors often or need medications periodically? If you do, with an HSA plans, you need to be prepared to pay for 100% of your bills initially, until your deductible is met.

The best course is to talk to a licensed agent and let them guide you through the process. Licensed agents are compensated by the insurance companies and by law, you will pay the same for the identical plan, no matter where you buy! Online agents like eHealthInsurance.com have agents and can help you decide what fits your needs.

Sincerely,

Amir Mostafaie
