Pre Existing conditions

My father living in India, is visiting Canada and USA in May-June 2009. He suffered a stroke in January 2006 and since then has been paralysed on the right side of his body. He is hypertensive but other than this he keeps good health and his blood sugar level, lipid profile etc. is well within normal limits. He has not been treated for any ailment nor been hospitalized in the past three years and is only on medication for control of his blood pressure, an aspirin a day and some laxatives to regulate his bowel movement.

I wish to draw an overseas mediclaim policy for him for the period of his travel which will cover all his pre-existing conditions and assure him of immediate medical assistance while in the USA. Is there any insurance product to suit his needs?

Dear Rashmidhope,

Most products mainly cover new health related issues & accidents. The only product I know that openly admits to covering "Unexpected recurrence of a Pre-Existing Condition" is by Liaison International. I have no business affiliation with them other than the fact that I have used them myself a couple of time for travel insurance.
