Dear rb53,

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was signed into law on march 23rd 2010. As you know this law has multiple provisions, one of which being extending the dependent children age to 26.

Even though the Bill was signed into law last month;
a) The regulation are yet to be determined & released by the dept. of Health & Human services (HHS),
b) there are specific timelines on different provisions.

The particular provision that is of interest to you goes into effect 6 months after the bill was signed (that is in September). Meanwhile the HHS will specify how overaged dependents will enroll into their parents plans. So I would check with your Human Resources dept last week of September.

You can use the link to see more details about other provisions & their timelines;
