coverage after marriage

by go_to_guy, May 22, 2008 06:04PM
As a nurse, my fiancee has excellent coverage through blue cross.      I have no insurnace now and am seen at the county hospital for free,  I have several pre existing conditions which would automatically disqualify me by any company if I applied for individual coverage -  Once I'm married, is her group plan from the hospital likely to immediately cover all my needs without bias RE: my pre existing conditions?

Dear go_to_guy,

In many cases, laws regarding waiting period on pre-exisitng conditions can be State specific. If you have had a break in coverage, your new carrier/plan can impose a limited time exclusionary waiting period for preexisting conditions. Your fiancee can inquire from the Human Resources dept. or employer and find out the waiting period for you.

Sincerely
