financial assistance

i was recently diagnosed with hep.c. I do not have any medical insurance and im sure i couldnt get any now. any suggestions on plans that i could qualify for to help with some of the tests that i need done. there is a doctor locally that does clinical trials for interferon but i need a viral load: $600 and a genotype: $800 done before they will even see me. i am a 26 year old female, wait table for a living. Have two children but not in my custody. Does the florida govt. have some sort of assistance programs for low income single people?

Dear scaredlilgirl143,

The best overall resource to look for health care choices is http://www.coverageforall.org/our_services.htm#apps which provides State specific guide that outlines all of your State’s public and private health care choices for individuals and groups in almost every demographic profile, as well as offering a reference list of phone numbers and web sites. For programs for low income residents, visit www.fdhc.state.fl.us.Medicaid or call Medicaid office at 850-488-3560.
If you are on medications & need help paying for your medications, visit www.needymeds.com .

Sincerely,
