how to get care without health insurance or with no cost

My friend has no health insurance. how can he get get for water on the knee, at a hospital without health insurance?

what would happen if he just walked in?  can he get free care if he is poor?

To look for free clinics in your area, you can use an online search engine like http://www.google.com/ and search for free clinic. Don’t forget to include your city & state when using Google.

To find out if your friend qualifies for any type of low income program, he can call Foundation for Health Insurance Education at 1-800-234-1317.
