one incident of illicit drug use-ramifications on future??

Hello sirs and madams...

I'll try to keep this brief :)

I am a young man of eighteen years.  I was at a house party last August shortly before classes commenced and there was cocaine being used at the party.  I used some, always having wanted to try it once (the allure of the "Sherlock Holmes", "Sigmund Freud", and "Scarface" characters, one could say).

During the crash I remembered I had a physical for school immunization forms the following morning! I felt the standard paranoia and began consuming copious amounts of water and juice in preparation for a urine test that, logically, I KNEW would probably not happen and would not include a test for drugs even if it did!

My blood pressure was sufficiently high that the nurse at the office remarked on it, and while the physician was checking me over I felt paranoid, as though I were being interrogated by police.  There was no urine test, but as we was asking me questions about my social history at the end I cracked and explained what had happened the previous night.  I expressed concern about his recording the incident on my medical records but at the time my concern was that my parents, from whom I have only recently become independent in these matters being eighteen years of age, would find out.  The doctor assured me that they wouldn't and that comforted me.

Lately, however, I have been trying to learn more about medical records and I see they are not as private as I figured they would be.  Who will see what I have done and how will it effect me in terms of insurance policies, employment (I know I couldn't work for the CIA, for example.  That's quite alright :) but would it preclude me  from doing work abroad for organizations such as...for example...the peace corps?) and elsewhere?

I have been quite anxious about this recently and would greatly appreciate an answer  :) to help me sleep

All the best to all of you,
Thanks a world
