I turned 21 hours after my medical issues started. I was able to get Medi-Cal for the month of March (when I turned 21) and MSI afterwards. However, MSI does not cover everything and I was wondering if there was any way that, although I am 21, I can get Medi-Cal benefits? My neurologist put me on disability and I sent into the state of CA's office in Santa Ana. My Medi-Cal case worker said that since I didn't mail it to the county, but to the state, that my health benefits would come from the state. I thought that Medi-Cal was run by the state, so how does that work? I am only going to have to worry about health insurance, for right now, if I need to anigogram done.

Dear bballplyer14,

Your best option is to contact Cover Me Foundation. This non-profit outfit offers no-cost assistance to the uninsured to help them find and apply for publicly assisted programs & can walk you through the confusing & daunting enrollment process.

You can visit them at www.CoverMeFoundation.com or call them at 877-678-7631.

Sincerely,

Amir Mostafaie
