Does anyone know any sugar free recipes?

by Dnh333, Aug 23, 2009 09:02PM
Ok so I recently found out from Doc that I couldn't have sugar anymore because I am Hypoglycemic and on meds to fix issue. Does anyone have any sugar free dessert recipes. I still have a sweet tooth and am dying to know how to cook a "healthier Dessert" as well as other foods. I dont cook often but am definetly not about to start eating sugar.

You will find some recipes here on this forum.  Here is a link to others http://www.thatsmyhome.com/sugar-free-recipes/sugarfree-desserts.htm.  And look up any dessert recipes for diabetics.  Some simple things you might try is to either bake an apple or grill a peach and then put a tsp. of healthy margarine and a bit of brown sugar substitute together and drizzle over top.  Maybe add some chopped nuts too.
I have had hypoglycemia since I was a teenager.  You will learn to understand your body and not let your blood sugar get too low.  I have learned to always include protein in my meals to keep my blood sugar stable and to have smaller meals or else snacks in between like yogurt, nuts, cheese, etc.  I've been able to include sugar in my diet but only when I really watch how I'm feeling and eat protein with it.  Good luck on your lifestyle change.

I've got a great recipe that I got for diabetics. It's a sugarless applesauce cookie and it tastes great! It is more cake like than cookie but it's quite good. I did post it on this forum some time ago. I'll try to find it and pull it back up.

Here you go...found it. You can substitute the white flour for whole wheat if you like or go half and half.

Sugarless Applesauce Cookies

1/4 cup margarine
1 tablespoon granulated sugar replacement
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 tablespoons water
1 cup all-purpose unbleached flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 cup chopped raisins

Cream margarine and sugar replacement. Stir in applesauce and water. Sift combined flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and cloves, then stir into applesauce mixture. Fold in raisins. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake 10-12 minutes in preheated oven. 375 degrees.
