Minute Chocolate Mug Cake

Minute Chocolate Mug Cake

Disclaimer: I'm not sure I'd classify this as "healthy" but it's intriguing... I haven't tried it..

                                                        MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
1 Coffee mug
4 Tablespoons flour --- plain, not self rising
4 Tablespoons sugar
2 Tablespoons baking cocoa
1 Egg
3 Tablespoons milk
3 Tablespoons oil
3 Tablespoons choc. chips (optional)
small splash of vanilla

Add dry ingredients to mug and mix well. Add egg and mix thoroughly
Pour In the oil and milk and mix well
Add vanilla and chocolate chips if using and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug , but don't be alarmed.. Allow to cool a little and tip out onto a plate if desired.. (this could serve 2 if you wanted to share)

Don't know about substitutions but could always try it...it's not as though you'll ruin a whole big cake !! Sounds interesting doesn't it?

I love you, Sandy. You are my new bff, Peek never shares recipes like this with me and we were friends well before skinny Peek took over ;-)

This sounds awesome. I must try it.

Well, hurry and print it or someone will see it and realize it doesn't belong on here ! LOL

You try it first. I'm half afraid it's gonna blow up !!! LOL again

Does sound intriguing.  I like the idea of experimenting in small doses.

I laughed this past weekend.  I was describing Swampy's coconut cream pie to my Dad and he was anxious to hear if I'd tried it.  This after he just commented on all the weight I'd lost!  NOT, but dieing to.

I really like the sound of this!

I deem it healthy!  It only serves one or two.

So you have, as you said, prevented yourself from eating an entire big cake.

I just made this last week.

Although, I didn't eat it since I'm not a big fan of cake and don't care for chocolate, but the 2 recipients that did eat, liked it. Their only complaint was about the texture. It definitely does not come out all that soft and moist. They both agreed that it is a "quick fix" for a chocoholic.

Oops, I forgot to add that I made the healthier version.

Instead of sugar, milk, egg, and oil. I used splenda, non fat milk, egg white, and apple sauce.

Good!! So glad some one got brave! It would probably hit the spot if one was having a serious craving ! .. I wasn't sure if the applesauce would work in such small doses.. so good to know ... Thanks

You could possibly use fat free vanilla yogurt in place of the oil, too.

I might try this tomorrow.

I am making this tonight and proudly proclaiming I will NOT be making it "healthy" as I simply do not care ;-)

I will post a review when I am done inhaling it. Tonight.

I suffer from this odd inability to follow directions, so the issues were likely my own fault. At 3 minutes it did not look done so I kept zapping it.

The semi-sweet chips swirled with white chocolate really added to it as did the dollop of Bailey's ice cream. Texture was very dense, almost like a brownie.

Overall rating is good. Four of us ate off of it and there is still some left. Definitely worth the minimal effort.

I forgot to add I used a large coffee cup, probably close to 14 ounces or so.

Alright, I made the *mistake* of entering the ingredients into my nutrition calculator. All I can say is SandyMac is not going to be the favor of any WW folks. This has, based on using the chocolate chips and vegetable oil, FF milk, and the rest of the ingredients remain the same and counting the entire mug:

929 calories
58 grams of fat
14 g protein
6 g dietary fiber

It makes me sad to know I ate almost an entire one yesterday...by myself.

Speaking of WW points, this is:

Yikes!  I'm learning to put it in first.  My husband came home with some carrot gluten free muffins he found at the health food store (he needs to eat gluten free) and he insisted I have one.  After I ate it I looked and it was 598 calories!!!

If you replace the chips and the oil, you will drop some 550 calories. I am not sure, but I may try experimenting with using applesauce in place of the oil. You could also do away with the chocolate chips and drizzle a little caramel or chocolate syrup.
