PMS and Chocolate cravings ...

Any healhy lite Chocolate treat recipes ideas! PMS is my worst enemy today ! I'm at most allowing 50 to 100 calories a day on a treat with my cycle . I have to earn it soo I have to workout burning at least 400 that day to earn it ! I HAVE NO CLUE WHERE TO START WITH LOW CAL CHOCOLATE !

A low calorie chocolate milk or hot chocolate might curb some of the cravings... unless they're severe.

Personally I opt for a "lower" fat brownies. I make mine with a 1:1 ratio of applesauce to butter (so instead of 1/2 a cup, I use 1/4) to cut out some of the fat. Because applesauce is pretty sweet, I also remove 1/4 the sugar. I also use egg whites instead of whole egg.

My favorite recipe still packs about 150 calories and about 5 grams of fat for a serving size 1/9th of a 9x9" pan. I use 1/4 C melted butter (I use a canola oil margarine), 1/4 cup Applesauce (unsweetened), 3 egg whites, 3/4 Cup sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 cup Cocoa, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and 1/2 C self-rising flour.  Baked at 350F/175C for 30-40 minutes. They're very soft, fluffy and cake like.

It's not the best for diet foods, but it will won't kill a diet either. And it can curb any craving for chocolate. Just make sure you cut the recipe down if you don't trust yourself not to go overboard. If you want to cut it down into a smaller (less calorie) try putting it into mini muffin tins. You will have to do the math to figure out what each cost, but they would be good serve sizes. Then you can share- or freeze the rest so they're not so tempting.

Try some of the weight watchers snacks or special K...If you have a Walmart near you...That is wear I would get the weight watchers snack. And If you like...I share the box of snacks....so I don't get tempted to eat the whole box. They are really yummy and not so bad for you...if you watch the amount you intake.

Sorry It is not a recipe...but...I don't bake...lol if I do I give away ALL remaining portions after I intake a piece of whatever it is I bake.

I have just written down Ducky's recipe  sounds yummy...why not eat choc as it is, I get it from Trader Joes the really dark one its listed as one of the superfoods now .

I am a total chocolate lover (at any time of the month), but I'm cutting calories, too.  I've found that one or at the most two Dove Promises (dark chocolate) are very satisfying.  Milk chocolate doesn't work, it has to be the dark chocolate.

The real secret to satisfying a chocolate craving is to SAVOR what you eat, let it melt in your mouth...don't just scarf it down.  Make your brain really register that you've had chocolate.  Hope that helps...it works great for me! :)
