Hi all, I have thyroid issues which means my weight can go up and down. I have a hard time dieting or at least watching what I eat because I am very picky. I do not eat soy, tofu, or other foods like. I am definitely not a vegetarian. lol. I like to eat chicken, steak, some pork- mostly ham. Hamburger is something for nachos or tacos, but unless I go to a restaurant I won't eat an actual hamburger. Looking for some "meat and potato" ideas nothing fancy. If you have any ideas for recipes or places to look or things to try? Please thanks

Stay away from fried - make baked fries from fresh potatoes or sweet potatoes. Make mashed potatoes with chicken stock and a little bit of healthy transfat free margarine. Try baked potatoes with some fat free or low fat sour cream. Try roasting vegetables (carrots, sweet potatoes, turnips, parsnips, beets, asparagus, brussel sprouts, etc). They taste awesome tossed with a lttle bit of olive oil or canola oil, salt and pepper and roasted in a 350 oven for about 45 minutes. Even add a small tbsp. of maple syrup in the last 15 minutes. If you didn't like vegetables before you will now.
I would really encourage you to use the food diary. It can calculate your calories, fats, carbs, proteins, etc. and help you learn portion control. I've been bad lately but when I do use it I do lose weight.
