Not sure what to do..

Hi Looking for some help please.

On the 25th June this year i experienced a blocked left ear. After 10 days i went to see an ENT specialist in a private hospital who prescribed me with 2 weeks of steriods & 16mg betahistine 3 times a day for 3 months. I went back on various occasions without improvement. I also began to get dizzy & started to get tinnitus & fullness in the ears. None of this has abaited & my hearing is beginning to really concern me. I really am starting to fear for my job now. I'm still on the betahistine (2 x 16mg a day) & have now transferred from the private hospital to Queen Marys in Roehampton.
I have a ENG balance assessment test on the 30th December. but this is just becoming to long to wait for. I'm willing to pay anything to save my hearing so any advice would be greatly appreciated. If someone could suggest a private consultant or anyway that some kind of diagnosis could be reached sooner rather than later I'd be eternally grateful.

With much hope

Pete

Hi!
Meniere's disease produces attacks of vertigo, fullness of ear, and hearing loss, tinnitus. The cause of Meniere's disease is not very well known and is supposed to involve excess fluid in the inner ear (hydrops). It could result from an autoimmune reaction, an allergy, an imbalance in the autonomic nervous system, a blockage to certain structures in the ear, or a viral infection.
Impaction of wax, perilymph fistula, autoimmune hearing loss, and acoustic neuromas are the other causes of hearing loss in one ear, tinnitus and unsteadiness. Please discuss this with the ENT and go for the requisite tests.
Please take a second opinion from another ENT specialist.
Take care!

Were you ever able to get this assessed further?  I have a friend who is dealing with unexplained fluid in the ear right now and she was saying her doctor wants to put tubes in.  She thought this was strange because she's an adult, but they said it would help.  Just curious how things are going.
