Sudden hearing loss/pitch distortion

For three days I have had the following symptoms in my left ear:

1.  Sensation of pressure.  Valsalva, Toynbee, and Frenzel techniques do not help.
2.  Background noise sounds amplified.  Conversation is difficult to follow.
3.  Loss of hearing below 1 kHz.  It is most pronounced at 500 Hz (apparent 27 dB difference).  It is a 10-15 dB difference through most of the 45 Hz - 1 kHz range.
4.  Pitch distortion in approximately 200-400 Hz range.  Left ear perceives tones to be about 30-50 Hz lower than right ear.
5.  Mild tinnitus, pitch is moderate.

I am abroad on business (Ireland) and won't be able to see a doctor for two weeks.  Is there anything I can do now?

I am not a Dr. but I and other have experianced the same thing.
This could be an allergy (see my Journal entry); try to avoid foods you commonly eat that are frequently associated with allergies.  These may include milk, eggs, nuts, etc., also avoice stress.  See an ENT ASAP, there are probably other causes with different cures, but I am only basing this solely on your list above.  Many people recover spontaneously (auto-immune self-corrects), your loss seems mild so there is probably a good chance.  Good luck and get well soon!
