Too young for hearing aid?

Too young for hearing aid?

I'm 26 years old and have had heading problems since I was little. The problem is that I find it very hard to focus my hearing on a single source, it's very hard to rule out all surrounding sounds. This is extremely annoying when going out for dinner, drinks, meetings with clients etc and I often take a step back rather than trying to be a part of conversations which is a big problem in my profession.

I've been considering getting some kind of hearing aid, saw a really small version today in a shop window so I'm considering going to talk to them next week.

Does anyone have more experience in this area? Would really appreciate your help.

Best,
H

Everyone I know who has gotten a hearing aid has been really glad they did.  You're right, there are some really small ones.  Good luck.

You are absolutely not too young for a hearing aid. Babies get them. :)

Ask your audiologist about trialing one. Typically you have 30 days or more to decide if you want to keep it or get your money back.

I got my hearing aids at age 4! The first thing you need to do is get your hearing tested. Based on the results you may find you need a hearing aid. And if you do and you can get one of those tiny ones...know there is at least one person out there who is jealous of you! I've got the big powerful behind the ear ones.

If possible, get a recommendation for an audiologist from someone or see if there is a non-profit group in your area. Some clinics are just there to make money, they're not looking out for your best interests.
