Why not just see an ENT doc and get it taken care of the same day without all of that mess?
This self procedure "may" do other things to, such as induce a dizzy spell you will not soon forget.
Beyond, that, how will you know if actually cleared your ears to begin with.
If you are looking to save a buck, go visit an audiologist. They "may" or may not have the tools to clean your ears. In some states it "may" not be within their scope of practice. (cerumen management/removal)
Regardless, you apparently have VA ben. so I'd just visit with them rather than try home remedies.
Good luck
