listening to the radio via ear plugs

I have been advised that wearing close fitting ear plug type head phones, whilst listening to the radio damages ones hearing.  Is this accurate?

Hi, the most important factor is the volume at which you are listening.  Better earphones with a snug fit often require less volume to achieve optimal sound quality than poorly fitting or inexpensive ones.  In any case,  the volume at which you wear your phones, in addition to the amount of time that you are listening is the determining factor.
