tympanoplasty - shall I do it ?

Hello !
I have an eardrum perforation and already on the surgery list. The problem is I was explained that this operation is not 100% guaranteed to improve my hearing loss and it's NOT such an easy operation as everyone might think !!!
I'm in Israel so maybe here the procedure is a little different than US, but I was told it would take about 2 hours under total anesthesia and after the surgery I'm going to be a mess for about 10 days !
So, what do you think ?! Shall I perform it ? I do believe that it doesn't deserve the pain if it doesn't improve my hearing after all...

It really wouldn't be fair for anyone to give you advice on your particular case. This all depends upon the size and location of the perforation, the reasons your doctor and you are considering it (hearing is just one), your level of comfort with surgery, your understanding of the benefits and possible risks...I wouldn't rely on anyone's advice over the internet on such an important matter.
