Mitral valve regurgitation & Interatrial septal aneurysm

I have moderate to severe mitral valve regurgitation.  I've had MVP since a child and now that I am in my 40's, the regurgitation has gone from mild to moderate/severe since the 90's.  I'm waiting for a dr appointment this week to tell me if surgery repair is needed.  I have a question that I do not know the answer to.  I know that I have an interatrial septal aneurysm that bows from left to right, which is a result of the leaky mitral valve.  There is no shunting as I had quite a few bubble tests done over the years and there is no evidence of an opening.  Can this aneurysm rupture if the pressure from the regurg get worse?  Does anyone know if having an aneurysm with NO shunting can still be serious because of the mitral valve regurg??  I have tried researching this on the internet and cannot find anything other than sites that talk about
