Stress Test Results--worried

I am a healthy 46 year old male with a family history of heart disease. That being said, I had a nuclear stress test this past Monday. I received a copy of the results and am looking for a heads up before seeing the Cardiologist. I run 3 to 4 times a week and really expected to ace the test. It was stopped 12 minutes in. I was told not to run or exercise at all! The results are as follows:

        ***Final Report***

EXAM: NM MYOC SPCT MUL+EJCT FR+WL MOT
EXAM DATE: Jun 11 2007 12:14PM

ADMITTING DIAGNOSIS: 786.50,V17.4

CLINICAL HISTORY:  Mid sternal chest discomfort, atrial fibrillation during stress gated acquisition.

RESULT:  Radiopharmaceuticals:  9.4 mCi of Tc99m Myoview IV for the rest and 25.9 mCi of Tc99m Myoview IV for the stress in a single day protocol.

Patient was exercised physiologically.

The patient exercised for a total of 12 minutes, 1 second on a Bruce protocol, achieving a peak heart rate of 180 bpm and a peak blood pressure of 170 systolic.

Stress and rest SPECT imaging of the left ventricular myocardium were performed and the data reconstructed into short axis and horizontal and vertical long axis projections.

Given all of the above findings, there is subtle small area of relative decreased perfusion is identified involving the basal aspect of the septum following the stress.  This area is reversible, filling in and on the resting study.  No other perfusion defects were identified.

Review of the cinematic display shows no significant wall motion abnormality.

However, there is increased end diastolic volume with 103 ml and left ventricular ejection fraction is 57%.

IMPRESSION:
1.  Small reversible perfusion defect noted at the basal aspect of the septum, following the stress, and is consistent with transient ischemia, and warrants further evaluation.

2.  Left ventricular dilatation with increased end diastolic volume.

3.  A written preliminary report was provided to the Outpatient Service at 2:15 pm of
06-11-07.

Any info would be appreciated......

What this means is that your heart is a little enlarged at end diastole (the measurement when your heart is full, right before it contracts and ejects the blood) and there may be a small area of your heart that is not receiving full blood supply when you are under stress (exercise, in this case).  That is is reversible means that you do get blood flow to that area at rest and so they can do things to improve that if deemed necessary.  Your ejection fraction is normal (range of 50-70% and yours is 57%).
