~*~ WHY THE CHEST PAINS AND SLEEPLESS NIGHTS?~*~

by CHRISTI__0, Apr 02, 1999 12:00AM

For this past week I haven't been able to sleep or lay down.  Whenever I lay down I get the most unbeariable pain in my chest,,I never had that problem before,,,Before I couldn't lay down because of the congested heart failure,,,couldn't breath,,during the day I get real short of breath, doesn't matter where or what I do When I'm done or get there I'm gasping for air.  I've been taking my lasix, tried to call the doctor but he won't be back till monday,,could this be because I'm so nervous about my surgery coming up?  (open heart)  Or is this new problems arising?

Dear Christi,
If ever there are new, unexplainable, or non-responsive symptoms (that formerly responded to medications), ESPECIALLY IN A PATIENT AWAITING OPEN HEART SURGERY, SEE YOUR DOCTOR ASAP AND IF THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE, THEN GO TO THE ER FOR AN EVALUATION.  This means you, Christi, and remember these words because a delay in your care should not ensue while you await an "answer" on this AN INFORMATIONAL FORUM- NOT, NOT, NOT A DIAGNOSTIC ONE.
I hope this information is useful. Information provided in the heart forum is for
general purposes only.  Only your physician can provided specific diagnoses and therapies.
Feel free to write back with further questions. Good luck!
