coronary bypass surgery

I was told that a heart bypass can last for 25 years or more especially when the heart patient eats healthy exercises regularly and only cheats on dark chocolates. I  read a message from you to someone a few years ago that they last only 5 years..  Does everyone in your opinion have to have the bypass redone.  I was told that it is not always tthe case and are women more likely to have it repeated than men.

Could you please shed some light on this very stressful subject.

I don't think you're axing me, but about the longest lasting cabg I've heard of is about 20 years.  When I had mine, they told me to expect about 10 or 12 years.  Don't have any idea about the men vs. women thang.

I remember my cardiologist saying the chances of my having it done again is bery slim with all the medications and stuff they know now. Regardless it is a nightmare at the thought of having to go through that again

My sentiments exactly.  In fact, if it came to that, I'm not real sure I'd do it again.  But, on the brighter side, we now know a lot more about what to expect, etc..  I guess the second time around might not be as bad.

I just pray that we don;t have to have it down again and that the new meds and tests will keep that from happening.  I keep saying everyday that my arteries have no plaque.  I know if I say it enough I wont have any.  It's been a little over 10 years since I had my bypass I have never been so afarid in my life and I  have never been the same since.  I also suffer from panic attacks caused by being hit by a semi so it just adds to the stress.  I try to think popsitive though but one little twinge and I think oh my God what is that
