What Nitro does is make all the arteries in the body dilate to allow more blood to flow through. Unfortunately, Nitro doesn't just aim at the coronary arteries, it targets ALL of them. This means you get a sudden drop in blood pressure and this can result in some pretty nasty headaches. I'm told the slow release patches are supposed to have a less severe effect. As the arteries widen, more blood should reach the heart tissue, releiving angina.

Exactly what ed34 said.

Ambulence officers use Nitro and Asperin in emergencies to treat suspects of people who may have a heart attack.

Its not a bad medication, its one of the only medications you can take for hypertension that can be refluxed (used whenever you feel a event instead of daily).
