Hi Steve,
If you've not really felt the same since, I would talk with your doctor and explain this to him/her. If you have any close relatives (parents, siblings, aunts/uncles, grqandparantes that have had heart problems or strokes, it would be a good idea to mention that.
I am not a doctor and I am not saying this applies to you. But a friend of mine, who is thin, health conscious, eats well and works out regularly, ended up having a stroke in her early 30s after stretching hard during an exercise class. (She also heard a pop.) This kind of thing is very rare, but it does happen. People can have mini-strokes, too, and not be aware of it at the time.
Good luck and please keep us posted as to what you find out.
Did you ever see an ENT? Straining (along with things sneezing and diving, where the pressure inside your head is increased) can cause perilymph fistula, a sudden tear in one of the membranes separating the middle from the inner ear.
Among the symptoms are dizziness and sometimes fluctuating hearing loss.
If you have not felt the same since that time, ask for a referral to an ENT, preferably a neuro-otologist (ENT with extra training in the inner ear).
I don't know about your eye symptoms, but the eyes and ears are both part of the vestibular (balance) system--perhaps the odd eye movements and visual symptoms were related to the dizziness.
