Septal Hypertrophy is the same as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Hypertrophic means thickened or enlarged, Cardiomyopathy means cardio (heart) myopathy (muscle disease). The disease can be obstructive (HCOM) or non-obstructive (HCM) and most times it appears along the septal walls, however, it can appear in any of the walls of the heart; for both ventricles and septal walls to be enlarged is extremely rare.
