14 y/o sharp chest pains

I have a son who is 14 years old, who has been experiencing chest pains for about 2 weeks.  It seems to hurt more when he first wakes up.  We have been to see the physician 2X, first thought to be acid reflux, rec'd meds (meds did not work).  A G.I., and blood work done, all normal. Doc said that this could possibly be growing pains.  I also noticed that this also has been more frequent since taking motrin and iboproben (for headaches), could these meds be causing this.  I read in the PDR that tighting of the chest, was a rare but a side effect of iboproben.  I have today taken his off this to see if the pain does subsides. He does participate in sports also.  Please help.

Motrin and ibuprofen can irritate the stomach. Perhaps this is the problem. I do not believe they really cause chest tightening, though they can rarely worsen certain types of asthma. Stopping the medicines may help.
