19 year old girl cardiac arrest

Ventricular fib?
i was recently in hospital due to a collapse which resluted in me being shocked twice.i seem to collapse quite a bit but this first time i did not wake up.they have called my previous collapses possible ventricular tachycardias?
Im 19 and have no cardiac problems, normal heart etc.
i have uploaded my ECG in my pictures on my profile
i think in my ecg i can see R waves?but maybe im wrong??because if there are R waves maybe i was not in cardiac arrest?? any help is much appreciated i am very worried

It did happen suddenly, i was at the mall, luckily this mall had a defib. I have had all the tests and i have a normal heart overall except obviously this, my cardiologist at the hospital tho, just put an implantable reveal device in i thought best would have been an ICD? because what use will the reveal be if i was to not wake up or no one had a defib to help me?He sais because i pass out alot that hes hoping to catch it first..... :S
Silly new zealand public hospital system!

Your rhythm is concerning for a ventricular arrhythmia, assuming this is not artifact.  If you had an episode of syncope (passing out) during this, you need to be admitted to the hospital until a diagnosis/treatment is established.  This rhythm could have been fatal had you not been shocked out of it.  In a young woman, the first things I would consider would be long QT syndrome or ARVD (arrythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia).  This can be evaluated with ECG monitoring and a cardiac MRI.  Coronary disease is possible but very unlikely given your age.  Meds and illicit drugs are also possible so if you use illicit drugs, please stop.  Please call your physician immediately and discuss the possibility of admission to the hospital and possibly ICD placement for secondary prevention of cardiac death.

Best of luck.

Hi, Hope you soon get a response soon, sure must have been a scary experience, looks like you had an episode of polymorphic ventricular tachycardia. I think you should have all the necessary test to determine a cause and see whether you're a candidate for an ICD or not , not every case warrants ICD therapy but you need need to get a definitive diagnosis, just my opinion I'm not a MD. Good luck.
