2 ABLATIONS sinceJAN,03 NOW I HAVE A PACEMAKER

I really need some advice.!!!!!
Had Never Had High Blood Pressure Befor.I Am a 61yr old female.
New Procedure Ablation Pulmanary Vein Isolation in Jan,2003, went back into AFib, 1 1/2 days later.I fell into the 20% it don't work on.I was in the EP Lab for 9 hours for this. I finally had to have a pacemaker put in, and AV Node Ablation just this April 3,03.Have mild to moderate Myitral valveleak,MRI of 12/6/02 was notable for Aortic Sclerosis.
.My question is after the first Ablation I started to have high blood pressure, 169/89, 187/102 some higher, some lower, it is like a YOYO. I was woundering if anyone can tell me why this has happened???My doctors aren't sure why they just gave me more meds to take for the pressure.Toprol XL 50mg,Hydrochlorot 25mg (water Pill),Cardzem CD 180 mg. which I have been on for years with the Afib, also digoxin which they just took me off of three days ago.I also sweat for no reason at all & get very flushed, just like going through the change of life which I have years ago. Does anyone else out there have this problem, can some one give me some advice as to what to do or what questions to ask the doctors ,answer as to why this is going on. Could this be from the meds I am on????? I do have more energy since the pacemaker but the rest is the pits. I know I need to give my body time to adjust to the Pacemaker but this was going on befor it.

Mammie13,

Sorry to hear of your frustration.

Although you don't want to hear this, I suspect that you have had gradually increasing blood pressure all along that is now apparent because of your more frequent trips to the doctor.  If you are absolutely certain that this is not the case, then look for secondary causes of high blood pressure: weight gain, any alcohol use, and cold medicines are just a few possible culprits.  Certainly, none of the blood pressure medicines would raise your blood pressure.

The other symptoms you describe could be medicine related and should be discussed with your doctor to determine when they started.

Good luck.

I have these short sweating episodes and flushed feelings.  I get them a lot and my doctor said they are "hormonal."  I had a hysterectomy at 40, I'm 73 now.  When I said to the doctor how can I still have hormonal problems at my age, he told me he has patients 80 years old who still have hormonal problems.

I have read that even if you go throught the "change", that doesn't mean everything gets better.  Hormonal fluctuations will still be there and in some woman, even more so because of the absence of certain hormones like estrogen.

An older lady friend of mine is in her late 70's.  She still gets hot flashes -- not as extreme as when she was going through the change, but she still gets them!  I too questioned why and how.  Her response was because my body isn't making anymore of the hormones I used to have.

So, we all have something wonderful to look forward to as we get older!  I guess it could be worse!

To: Everyone had more problems.
I want to thank everyone for there help and responces.THANK YOU ALLSO MUCH
I have been going through some things here but all seems to be going  better now. I have found out that some of the meds were causing the  flushing an other problems. The Amneodarone I was on was the worst, it caused a lung problem, mild problem with the liver which could also be from some of the other meds I'm on. Caught a skin rash from the hospital,I have had more blood test & cultures for all of this. Boy am I falling apart or what.:>)
I told the Doctor I wanted a new body as this one seems to be coming apart, I want to keep the brain though as I know what this one knows:>) Now they don't want to adjust the pacemaker yet till all is better,he wants to wait till July before he does it.The pacemaker hasn't been adjusted  at all since I had it put in April 3, I just don't want to be come dependant on it, I want my heart to take over some. They won't even change or adjust any meds yet either. They say it's because if anyone is going to have problem It will be ME, doc's  say I keep them on there toes.
