Is it common for a 26 year old female to have a carotid bruit? I went to my primary for a physical required for the nursing program and this was found. I had an ultrasound performed and have not yet discussed the results with my doctor. There is some family history of poor heart health and strokes, though all cases (at least in recent generations) presented late in life. I am a healthy weight, gave birth to my second child 8 weeks ago and did not have high blood pressure during either pregnancy, nor do I have high blood pressure now. I have not been informed of my cholesterol results yet. I do not smoke and am not a heavy drinker.
