3 year old with bicuspid valve

by wenkev, Jun 13, 2007 12:00AM
My 3 year old son suffered from a coarctation of the Aorta caused by the PDA, ASD, VSD, then ecoli infection, heart surgery to repair twice and a diaphram plication (sorry for the spelling). At this time the eco showed a biscubid valve (no leakage), but the surgeon could not see it during the surgery. Now the Pedi cardiologist monitors this every 6 months to keep an eye on it.The Dr. is always vague with future possibilities. So here are my q's. What is the likelyhood of this valve needing to be replaced and when? Is it necessary for him to be checked every 6 months ($600.00)? My sons health comes before money, but I just wanted t be sure.
