He is a four-year-old Polish boy who suffers from Restrictive Cardiomyopathy in which the heart chambers are unable to properly fill with blood because of stiffness in the heart. The abnormal heart function can affect the lungs, liver, and other body systems. His only hope is a heart transplant.
Kacper is so exhausted with the illness that he cannot even move his hand. He has spent most of his short life in hospital and he is in a constant pain. Kacper can only lie on one side of his body because lying on the other makes him suffocate. He weights 9 kg (18 lbs), which is the normal weight for an eleven-month old child, not a four-year old.
Kacper has been waiting for a heart transplant for two years now but the doctors in Poland cannot find the right heart.
