44 year old husband had major heart attack

My husband had a major heart attack on Tuesday morning.    They did the cport, angioplasty and put a stent in his heart.  He had a 100% blockage of the center artery. I was told that he had less than an hour left to live when he came into the er. The dr. said that his right artery has mild damage through out the artery and the left artery has severe damage through out the artery.  When I asked the dr. if this could be repaired (as in bypass surgery), he said no that it is unrepairable and that we could not put 50 stents in his heart.  He is now on aggressive meds and we see the cardiologist next week.  He will begin cardiac rehab on the 12th.  Has anyone else had this happen and what was the out come.

Hi.
I do not understand this at all,I thought that is why they do by-pass. My husband had a heart attack a little over a year ago, had a 100% and a 80% blockage, both arteries were stented. Seven weeks ago he another attack, his stent blocked and they did emergency by-pass taking a vein from his leg.

The surgeon told us he had a 40% blockage, the report and the cardio say 60% also a 70% in a small artery so we do not know what to believe.He has miniamal heart damage from both even though this 2 nd attack they said he was close to death.

I hope someone comes along that knows more about this than I do, just does not sound right to me.

I was told that there had to be some part of the artery that was in good shape in order to do the bypass.  His arteries are damaged through out the entire artery.
