Sorry to hear about your brother. It sounds like his heart if very sick. Many institutions, The Johns Hopkins Hospital included, have these EXPERIMENTAL devices that change the shape of the heart. They are all experimental at this point and are unlikely to be the answer you are looking for. It is good hear that he is still very functional and able to
cutCuts and puncture wounds lawns.
The ICD is a wise decision.
Sometimes a transplant evaluation is completely appropriate and this is something that should be considered. You may want to consider an evaluation by a large, reputable transplant program. Most major teaching hospitals have them and we are certainly proud of ours here at the Cleveland Clinic.
