My test was with a128 slice. I don't believe the prep has changed for a 256. I had an IV injection to slow the heartbeat. Tests can be done with or with a contast medium. The heart rate provides better images with a low heart rate. My heart rate was below 60 pbm. Not everyone can successfully complete the test if the heart rate cannot be reduce sufficiently, or unable to hold breath for about 20 seconds.
The prep for the test takes several minutes, but the test itself is very quick. I was surprised by the short time interval for the test itself.
with the 256 slice scan, do you have to be injected with dye for it and do you know how long you have lay there . plus does your heart beat have to be at a certain beat for the pictures to be right?
The 64 slice has been replaces with at least a 128, but better is the 256 slice ...less radiation expossure and much better imaging characteristics and fidelity...it is said to be very good and the same as actually being there with the the 3D and the newer scans are 4D the other dimension is the imaging of blood flow.
The best source for information would be your doctor or hospital for the information of the nearest facility.
Thanks for your question.
