I've had AFib for 2 yrs. now. right after having my first few episodes I started recording when these episodes happen, including B/P pressure, time of day, severity (on a 1-10 scale) refection on what happened that day and extra anything that maybe going on at the time. After that I found out that 95% of the time it was happening every 10 days between 5 and 8 PM. I've been to many Docs. and Test to no avail. Things I've done to help...The med. is Atenolol and I moved it to the evening dose instead of morning, this is closer to the night episodes. The doc. put me on Digoxin and that help alot but, still had lighter episodes and it screwed up my vision until Digoxin was removed in about two weeks. Eyes cleared up in about 2 days. The Digoxin altered my attacks and now they are every 9-12 days apart. I even tried putting a 9Volt battery to my tongue on attacks, no workyy. I think it has something to do with Blood Platelets because they regenerate from bone marrow every 8-10 days. So I just live with it for now.
what does a person do if they tell you that you have a fib but your resting heart rate is walking around in the high 40s and as low as high 20s when sleeping im not sure they are correct
Hi
I read a book called Deadly Medicine about Flecainide and about the number of people that it has killed.
It is a very dangerous drug and can make AFib worse.
I still get break thru AFib while I'm taking it as well. My doctor said aspirin was ok at this time as I suffer with digestive problems. So wont take it unless I really have to.
Thanks for all the replies.
Muki,
I am sorry if you think that I misquoted you, but please enlighten us, and tell us what you mean by "Aerobic Oxygen". Those are the definitions of aerobic _
adj.
Biology.
1. Living or occurring only in the presence of oxygen: aerobic bacteria.
Of or relating to aerobes.
2. Involving or improving oxygen consumption by the body: aerobic exercise.
3. Relating to or used in aerobics: aerobic shoes.
Because oxygen is Always aerobic (otherwise it would be named anaerobic) I thought you meant number 2.
Jade has not "a heart that slows down"; AFib is a very fast, irregular rythm.
My dad has been suffering from it for more than 10 years. He takes Flecainide for it, plus Coumadin (blood Thinner). Blood clots is a serious occurance with AFib (cinnamon has just a very mild effect as a blood thinner, and does not cut it for AFib).
Jayde, I'm so sorry about this argumenting with muki on your post. I just felt that some information needed clarifying so that the decisions you make are supported by evidence.
Sorry if it's upsetting you.
I wish you all the best :-)
globalhiking - she would be taking cinnamon in addition to aspirin since her heart slows down she needs to add a natural product to her medication not another medication because she has a heart that slows down. Anyway its up to her but these products work well in regulating the heart. Once one is on many medications, its good to add natural stuff to regulate the body otherwise lots of medications do more harm than good in the end.
globalhiking AEROBIC OXYGEN NOT EXERCISE - PLEASE READ BEFORE MIS QUOTING ME.
I don't want to start an argument with Muki, but I need to disagree with a few things that she stated (unless she can quote reliable scientific research to support her claims) -
Aerobic exercise will NOT improve AFib.
AFib, unlike heart disease, is a problem with the electrical current in the heart, and aerobic exercise has not effect, and therefore will not improve it overtime.
It is Extremely important that you do not stop taking your medication without your dr's consent!
Cinnamon has NOT been proven to be a reliable/strong blood thinner.
You can take it for other health benefit, but for AFib even Aspirin might not be enough, hence people with AFib having to take Coumadin (Warfarin).
Also if you take any blodd thinner (Aspirin; Coumadin), it is not a good idea to take another one, as the added effect may be very dangerous.
:-)
Hi Jayde,
I don't suffer from AFib, but my dad does.
He developed Afib more than 10 years ago, and has been on Flecainide since then.
Beside minor side effects - nausea; mild dizziness - he has been fine, and quite happy with the results.
Why are you 'scared to death' about taking it? Did you, or someone you, have a bad experience?
Flecainide has quite a short list of side effects, and unless you suffer from renal impairment, there is nothing too dangerous about it.
I'm just curious - Why are you on aspirin instead of Coumadin (Warfarine)? Does you Dr thinks that you are at risk for blood clots? (blood clots can be a danger with AFib)
Hoping you find this useful.
and hope you feel well soon - you will don't worry.
Get aerobic oxygen its good for irregular heart beats - it may work better than your medication and you may have to get off your medication eventually while on it because it will work so well. Also to avoid blod clot incorporate cinnamon in your diet and take an aspirin - but eventually as you heal, you will get off the aspirin as cinnamon may work well for you - it varies by person.
