There are many different kinds of SVT (supraventricular tachycardias) including atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, atrial flutter, atrial tachycardia, AVNRT, AVRT, and PJRT.  All of these are arrhtymias that arise "above the ventricle."  It is impossible to say an individual will "never" develop atrial fibrillation; however, there are some arrhtymias that are more closely related to atrial fibrillation such as atrial flutter.
