AFib, now MVP, MVR

AFib, now MVP, MVR

I have a history of AFib since 2002.  I had an RF Ablation in 6/18/10.  I had an echo in May that showed minimal MVP/MVR.  I had another echo on 8/18 that shows MVP with Moderate MVR with multiple jets.  My EP states that the PACs I am feeling are still associated with the albation but the fatigue, chest pain, and SOB I feel daily are not a result of the ablation.  My regular cardiologist does not seem to be very proactive in resolving this issue.  I am 40 years old, a fire fighter, and an endurance athlete.  I have stopped all cardiovascular exercise mid May and recently stopped all resistance training to keep any additional pressure off of the mitral valve.   I have gone from running over 6 miles a day to being an exhausted couch potatoe.  What is my next step?

Did they perform a TEE to assess the valve?  Also, given that you had a atiral fibrillaiton ablation they should also check to make sure there isn't pulmonary vein stenoses present.  That would definitely explain your symptoms.  You will need a chest CT with contrast to assess for that.

I have not been able to get back to my cardiologist yet.  I am waiting for the official echo report from the last doctor.  I would think that pulmonary  vein stenosis is not an option since I still have a low resting heart rate.
